Join food safety consultant, Chris Dunn (DunnWorks, LLC) for an informative webinar on 5S Quality. Improving the efficiency of your workplace makes food safety easier and audit scores higher! Over the past seven decades, 5S has shown its value and been embraced as part of every significant quality system in existence today. It is cost-saving, efficiency-building, and quality-focused. It lays out a common-sense approach that provides a baseline from which other quality systems can be built from. The term 5S comes from the five steps of the process, each of which starts with the letter "S" - Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. 5S benefits include increasing safety and morale, improving product quality, and increasing the life of your plant and equipment.

Speaker Biography: ​Chris Dunn, DunnWorks LLC
​Chris Dunn retired from NSF International, where he managed the global Beverage Quality program offering food safety certifications (NSF, SQF, BRC) as well as laboratory testing, food safety audits, consulting and training for bottled water, natural mineral water, flavored beverages and packaged ice. Chris is also qualified as a beverage auditor, food safety trainer as well as “Lead Instructor” for the FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCQI) training program referenced under the FDA’s Preventive Controls regulations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver and a MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

ammonia safety: general duty and process safety management for the ice industry

This training will provide an overview of General Duty Clause and PSM/RM Plan regulations and how they pertain to the Ice Manufacturing Industry in particular. We will also review applicable codes and standards in place for ice manufacturing facilities and common regulatory issues and citations that ice manufacturers face.

Speaker Biography: Heather Savard, Sr. PSM Consultant, Nexus Refrigeration
Heather has over 10 years of experience in the compliance with PSM and RM Plan regulations and holds a bachelor’s degree in business management. Heather works closely with customers to help ensure compliance with PSM and RMP regulations as well as compliance with the General Duty Clause for those customers that have under 10,000 lbs. of ammonia onsite. This work includes the facilitation of PHA studies and compliance audits, providing training, leading management of change processes, the development of PSM and RMP programs that are site specific on a customer-to-customer basis. Heather has also been involved in EPA and OSHA regulatory inspections. Heather is a member of the IIAR Compliance Committee and serves as the President of the Nor’easter RETA Chapter
