PAST WEBINAR: Navigating the Future: Tariffs & Tax Reform Impacts

Description:
On February 1, the Trump administration announced a 25% tariff on all imports from Mexico and Canada, with the exception of Canadian "energy resources," which will be subject to a lower 10% tariff. Additionally, a 10% tariff will be imposed on imports from China, effective February 4. Join Chris Lamond, Thorn Run Partners, for this webinar to learn what you need to know and how these tariffs may impact your business.

Chris will also dive into the political landscape surrounding the potential for tax reform, as Congress considers extending or modifying the expiring Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017 (Trump’s tax policy). He will examine the implications for businesses, including changes to corporate and individual tax rates, as well as other expiring provisions. Chris will also cover the challenges and opportunities ahead.

There will be ample time for Q&A in this interactive session.

Speaker Biography:
Chris Lamond, IPIA's Public Affairs Consultant, has built a career representing clients before federal, state and local governments, with more than 25 years of experience working for and with governmental entities.

Chris co-founded Thorn Run Partners in 2010, after a career on and off Capitol Hill. Chris’ government experience includes working for U.S. Senator Fred Thompson (R-TN) and the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs. Mr. Lamond joined Senator Thompson in 1994 and served on the Senator’s personal staff in a number of legislative roles before moving to the Committee on Governmental Affairs when Senator Thompson became committee chairman in 1997. In 2008, Mr. Lamond also served as an advisor to the Fred Thompson for President campaign and continues to work in a number of unofficial roles for federal and state candidates around the country.

In addition to his position as founding partner at Thorn Run, Chris continues to represent corporate, non-profit entities, and trade associations before Congress. Chris has been an advocate for causes and industries in various sectors, including financial services, technology, transportation, education and health care. Chris’ understanding of the legislative landscape and ability to create effective advocacy strategies have resulted in significant policy achievements for his clients. Beyond his work at Thorn Run, Chris is recognized as a thought leader and has contributed to industry publications, conferences, and panel discussions throughout the country.

Chris received a B.A. in Political Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and currently lives in Washington, DC with his wife and two children.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver and a MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jarrod Snyder is the President of York Ice Company Inc. DBA Good Time Ice in York, Pennsylvania. Leading one of the country's oldest family-owned ice plants, in business for over 150 years, Jarrod continues to advocate for the highest standards in ice safety and quality. Jarrod served as the Chairman of the IPIA in 2023 and has contributed extensively as a longtime IPIA committee member, former member of the Board of Directors, and current co-chair of the PIQCS Committee.​
